Shetland FC to face St Duthus FC this weekend

The Shetland Senior County team are travelling down to Halkirk this weekend to face St Duthus FC in the first round of the Football Times Cup. The squad will be travelling by ferry to Orkney tomorrow night and then on to Scrabster on Saturday morning, with the match taking place at Morrison Park at 1.30pm.

With ex-Shetland managers John Scott Christie and Allan Graham stepping down from their posts last week, coach Kevin Main has agreed to oversee the team for the match which is their first on the mainland in over a year after their ill-fated winter last year.

Very little is known about St Duthus FC who have joined the North Caledonian League once again after an 11-year absence. Following two wins and two defeats in their pre-season campaign, the Tain-based side opened their league account on Saturday with a 3-3 draw away to Invergordon.

Despite the managerial departures and a host of injuries to several key players, the Shetland team travelling away is strong and includes 8 players that were involved in the county fixture this season. The full squad for the match is as follows:

Grant Wood (Spurs), Saul Swanson (Thistle), Richard Arthur (Whalsay), Joel Bradley (Celtic), Jack Clubb (Celtic), Josie Kay (Spurs), Leighton Flaws (captain – Delting), James Aitken (Celtic), Jordan Thomason (Spurs), Calvin Leask (Thistle), Ryan Grant (Celtic), Bobby Scott (Whitedale), Magnus Thompson (Whalsay), Greg Tulloch (Whitedale) & Stuart Copland (Thistle).

The Shetland team would once again like to thank their sponsors Northlink Ferries for their continued support.
