Shetland Face Alness in Football Times Quarter Final

The Shetland squad are away this weekend to play in the quarter final of the Football Times Cup in what will be Niall Bristow and Kevin Main’s first official match in charge. The new look managerial team boasts the experience of Bristow, who is entering his third spell at the helm, and a fresh outlook from Main, who has continued on his role as coach and assistant manager.

The team are up against Alness United, a side they defeated 1-0 in the semi-final of their successful Jock Mackay Cup campaign in the 2014/15 season. Alness are currently lying 7th in the North Caledonian League having just picked up a single point from their three league matches this year however Bristow is well aware of the danger the side pose having only narrowly beaten them last year.

The match is being played at the King George V Park in Golspie at 13.30 on Saturday afternoon. The support of any Shetlanders in the area would, as always, be much appreciated by the boys in blue!

Shetland FC are without goalkeeper Grant Wood and influential midfielder Calvin Leask for the match this weekend but do welcome back Scalloway midfielder John Allan and Spurs forward Sam Maver back to the squad. Roy Wood also features for the team for the first time since his county appearance in 2013.
